Volunteer Groups

Some things are just better with a group! Whether you team up with your coworkers, friends, family members, school group or civic organization, volunteering can be a fun and rewarding experience.

Providing a meal is a wonderful way to provide a tangible sign of comfort and care for families while they care for their seriously ill child. Cooking can be especially rewarding as families often find themselves living on hospital food or from vending machines much of the time. Groups can prepare dinner or weekend brunches for the families at the House. See the Meal Teams page for more information.
A group of up to 15-20 people can gather together to help us clean and organize the common areas of the House. Cleaning is an important part of helping our families have a safe, clean and comfortable place to call home while they care for their ill child. Groups who are able are encouraged to bring any of the following supplies: Windex, Febreze, Pledge, Clorox wipes, and paper towels. Groups are scheduled for a 2-hour block on a Monday-Friday before 4 pm or a Saturday from 12:30-2:30.

To sign up, please contact Marcia Kessinger and request your preferred date. We will do our best to accommodate your request.

From time to time we may have need for expert groups to complete specific tasks. For example, we may need professional-level assistance involving landscaping, maintenance, computer skills or secretarial skills. You can use your talents, experiences and resources to strengthen the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill from the inside out. If your group has a special skill set please tell us more about you and your group and see how you can help. Please contact Marcia Kessinger.
Families Helping Families is a philanthropy program that makes a huge impact here at the House. Your family’s investment in Hope could mean could mean the world for a family in need. If your family is interested in supporting the House, learn more on our Families Helping Families program page.
