Offering a place to rest and recharge at the hospital
When families walk into the Ronald McDonald Family Room at North Carolina Children’s Hospital, we want them to forget that they are in the hospital.
The Family Room was created as a place where parents can find comfort so they can stay strong to support their sick child. Research shows that a family presence in the hospital helps children heal and cope better. Staying close by allows parents to better communicate with their child’s medical team and improves adherence to treatment plans.
Located on the 7th floor, just down from the Play Atrium and the Hospital School, this small, but comfortable, space is staffed by Ronald McDonald House volunteers and staff. The space includes an eat-in kitchen, wireless access and a comfortable, home-like seating area. The Family Room overlooks the Rooftop Garden. Hours of operation are currently Monday through Thursday 9 am to 9 pm, Friday 9 am to 6 pm, and Saturday 12 pm to 6 pm.
