The Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill offers a number of special programs to help and support families and children experiencing the challenges of illness.
It’s all part of creating a welcoming environment where families can be together and feel supported.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room at North Carolina Children’s Hospital
The Ronald McDonald Family Room at North Carolina Children’s Hospital was created as a place where parents can find comfort so they can stay strong to support their sick child. Research shows that a family presence in the hospital helps children heal and cope better. Staying close by allows parents to better communicate with their child’s medical team and improves adherence to treatment plans.
We have expanded the reach of our support programming along with the growth of our facilities.
Partnerships established with other community organizations enhance the support we are able to offer to families.
The Family Support Program offers restorative, family-oriented support activities that nurture healing, creativity and strong life skills. Targeted at those staying with us for long periods of time, this program provides creative and restoring activities, educational resources and emotional support for caregivers and siblings. Regular activities led by volunteers cover a broad range of categories including music, crafts, therapy dogs, massage, reiki, nutritional cooking, and games.
